I'm ready
I try to tell myself I'm ready. For whatever comes next. We biked a lot again on Monday. All day and all over. We went to the big square downtown. We went to a little natural history museum because it had air conditioning. We went to the sad little zoo because it was only a dollar to get in. The mini monkeys were pretty cool. One of the bears looked up and gazed into my very soul. I've never been so close to one before.
Then we found a tiny outdoor concert in the park by the zoo, and ate popcorn and chilled. Then we rode our bikes through the park as the sun started to ease on the horizon, perfect picture taking opportunity. It was spring in Europe! It was wonderful. Cute little bridges and benches all over. Not too many people. Very quaint.
Then stop for ice cream to break up the long way home. I think I looked on the map and it was at least 13 kilometers.
I love the cool ride along the river into downtown in the morning. I also really love the ride back during sunset. The first part of the ride is just river and green banks and a hill on one side and the river on the other. Then the path narrows and gets over crowded with beautiful wild flowers. That's my joy. That's when I forget how tired I am, and how sore my derriere is. It's just awe at the colors and varieties of these creations. Nature is a good artist!
I was all kinds of tired when I finally got home. I think we had another one of those huge hamburgers for lunch, where they stuff the fries inside on a partially closed bun and put a bunch of dried spices on top. I ate half of mine.
The next day I was ready to rest! I think we walked to find some ice cream. It was so good that we back tracked and got another one. Nothing better on a hot day.
Now I'm ready for what's Next. We talked about going to South Africa a lot, but when we bought the tickets last night it wasn't what we settled on. Capetown is still in our destiny, but not this time.
I'll keep you posted, we have 4 days of travel next week. That's how we roll, buy tickets on Sunday night at midnight and departure is 6am on Tuesday!!
Oh, and I had 3 days of extraordinary results in my family tree research. Finally! Now I have to organize all the information that I have. I am beyond happy, it's totally amazing. I feel so blessed.
The Natural History Museum was small. My favorite part were the mammoth tusks, and the display of the huge variety of dragonflies that are here.
Pretty park!
This is so frustrating. This does no justice to all the colors and the fantastic lighting. I liked these brown plants though. And all the other colors, but where are those pictures? I'll have to find them.
