One day. A million memories.
What a day. First of all, I slept in. Don't be jealous, I slept in because I woke up at least 6 times last night. We have a wonderful bed here with great pillows, I don't know why I have a new trial of not being able to sleep through the night. I got up at 4am and closed the door so Ron could sleep while I made myself a cup of raspberry hot chocolate. It was still dark out when I went back to bed. But the aspirin and essential oils were helping with the toothache.
The first thing we did was go to downtown Seattle, on the waterfront. We strolled along. I loved the way it smelled. The first cool thing I saw was a dozen people fishing off the wharf for these squid things with no tentacles, and really big distinct looking eyes. They were about 6-10 inches long. Often they would squirt water as they were hauled out of the water, sometimes getting the people with the poles. It was crazy. Then we walked around and enjoyed the sunshine. Sunshine on the water is beautiful. In Costa Rica there were waves, and a beach. Yesterday there was calm water that came right up to the edge of town. Then we walked a few blocks to the Pike Place market. It was so crowded, with blocks full of things for sale. It's one corridor with booths on both side, and room to walk that was about as wide as 3 strollers. Which was tricky when there were actually parents with strollers trying to get through. This one place had an octopus just sitting there, dripping onto the floor. Weird. The one thing that really appealed to me were the jade necklaces. Maybe I'll get one the next time we go.
Then some friends invited us for dinner at this adorable house that is only accessed by walking a steep trail. It was half buried in fallen leaves in the middle of a heavily forested area. The view was stunning. It felt so peaceful there. It was like the world stood still for a few hours. I feel soothed just looking at the pictures. Watching the sunset was one of the most relaxing things I've done lately.
Then we went to a party with my good friend here, a Halloween party with at least 100 people. My friend's church does something called "trunk or treating". Have you heard of it? People decorate their cars and sit on the trunk and hand out candy in the parking lot. The best costumes I saw were 2 t-rex in full puffy costumes. Followed by a couple with matching mad scientist costumes, with curly white afro wigs with matching white lab coats, and those big nose glasses. Third place was a kid with a crazy Medusa monster headpiece.
We missed the chili cook-off because we were out on the sea shore house. But the kids were adorable as they walked around in pure sugar driven delight. I was a good girl, I only grabbed 3 of the fun sized 100 Grand bars. Why are they called "fun" sized? I call it a lousy effort size. What do they call the extra large ones? Boring? No pictures from that night though, I was too busy living in the moment.
The last 2 pictures are from Ron's camera, his camera is amazing. He has the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. I didn't want one that fancy, myself. But I'm glad for his!
