Inside a wave
I had an amazing experience the other day.
We were at the beach and the sun was setting. We had maybe half an hour to wait for the sun to touch down on the water over the horizon line. My friend took some incredible pictures. I love how the waves change color when the sun comes through them, instead of hitting them on top. It's all in the angles. The water can become a metallic turquoise during a certain phase of the setting sun. Quite beautiful. There is nothing like it.
This picture is neat too. We had to time the waves to get on the rocks, and then around the corner is a small cave. It's in this picture, but set back, so you can't see it. It's starts out at about shoulder level, then goes to waist level. It is only a few feet wide. The tide wasn't out enough to visit it for long. But I wouldn't spend quality time anywhere near the entrance. The whole thing was crawling with small crabs! The body size was equal to a large coin, on average. It was creepy. The rock was rough edged, and the crabs can crawl up them, and across them. They move like spiders, they resemble spiders!

The change of colors during a sunset is fantastic. Add the change of colors on the water is an additional joy. This picture shows a bit of the fun. The best part is that right after that last rock is fishing water. And when a wave comes, it hits the rock and shoots up. It's so loud. It's so full of energy. It's so full of power. I often think about how you can't stop the tide. How there are things in Life that you can change, and things that you must accommodate. I like this spot to watch the sun go down. It sticks out a bit in to the ocean, so it's all around me. Loud crashing waves, drowning out the need to try and talk. It's incredible, being so close to all that wave chaos. And all the while I'm staring down the sun, watching it transform into a big glowing egg yolk. These are the tidal moments that fill my soul.
On the small part of the tiny beach were only a handful of people, including us. I said to my friend: I feel so blessed. So few people in the world stand right here, and enjoy this. It felt like a custom made moment for this small town Canadian girl. It was pretty unbelievable. It was a clear example of feeling peace amid chaos. It's good to be reminded that it's possible.
