Don't break the law

I love the law of attraction. If you haven't read the book, or seen the movie, you're missing out. It's called The Secret by Rhonda Byrne. In a nutshell - it means you attract what you are thinking. The biggest example I can think of is all the people who spent a lot of time bashing Donald Trump. They are confused how he became the president. The law of attraction says he won because for better or worse - because everyone was thinking of him. Some of how much they admired him, some of how much they hated him. The law of attraction says if you wanted someone else to win, you shouldn't have invested so much negative energy into Donald Trump. Because it was still invested energy. It's a kind of breaking the law of attraction, because it was used to get what wasn't wanted.
My point today, is how I can become more aware of the law of attraction working in my life? I found a real life example that really made me think.
Look at this picture: It's some art work by a very lovely lady I know. She put this in the sidewalk right before the front door. She moved to the tropics and saw this beautiful bird and just amazed her.

It's called a trogon. Some are black, some are more blue. The law of attraction says: if you want to see more of the bird, find ways to draw the bird to you. In thoughts, pictures, and however creative you can get. So it was a great idea to put this artwork where everyone could see it every day. Go forward in time10 years after the house was built, and the bird was put in her daily path. I come along, and she tells me it is a rare but beautiful bird that she loves. So in January we put a picture of one on her dream board: this picture I found must be a baby, they have very long tails.

I've been here for 6 months in the house with the bird by the front door. I saw this bird 2-3 times before January. Since January I've seen one a few times a week. Once I saw 3 of them in the same tree, at the same time. Every time it's right outside the front door, in a huge tree that hangs over the tiny dirt road. While looking out the big window over the kitchen sink. This morning I didn't get up to look for them, but I heard 2 of them calling each other when I was just waking up. They have such an exotic and distinct chirp.
I'm learning a few things.
The first step was that I became more aware than ever of the desire to see the bird. The next step was believing that I would see more of the bird. Then it was so simple: get up early and do any dishes in the sink. Sort of. Do the dishes with the curtains open. Oh, and don't forget to actually look outside the open window! Now I believe that every morning, if I can get myself out of bed by 6am, I will probably see one. They have probably always been there. I've never seen one during the day, I've seen one once in the late afternoon. So I learned that Life is also about timing. This lady missed seeing this bird simply because she was in the wrong part of the house. How much of Life do I miss out on, because I just haven't figured out the right combination of time and place. Or timing and placement. What if everything I've ever loved has always been THAT close, waiting for me to figure it out? What if I looked at everything that way? Instead of telling myself that it's supposed to be hard, or that it's supposed to make me angry, or that something is not good enough. I'm ready for that kind of change. Wish me luck! But don't worry, I also believe that I create my own luck. Because that theory has worked out well so far.
