How was your day?

My day has been long so far! Up at 5:30am to the stench of a skunk. Man, it was so bad I almost self-suffocated with my pillow over my face. Good thing we had plans to leave the house!
My Mom and I caught the bus at 6:43am. Some stinky people got on the bus half way there. Some weird cross of chemical and.... hairspray, maybe? Gasoline, maybe? I was hoping that inhaling was optional, because it was strong. But we laughed the whole way there. It takes about an hour to get to the 'big town' with it's crazy one way streets and warped sidewalks. Breakfast of rice and beans and eggs at the edge of the sidewalk, watching the people and the pigeons. It's an open restaurant, like most of them in town.
My mother is determined to spoil me! It was like Christmas all over again. First it was the special perfume shop where we bought 2 perfumes and a deodorant in a glass bottle. We chose the bottles, and we chose the scents from a wall of options in big grey bottles. The 2 options that I picked was called Island Kiss, and Coco Madmoiselle. What a contrast to the first parts of my day. The perfume bottle I chose is so cool, I'll have to take a picture to show you. And we can go get it re-filled too. Oh-la-la.
Then I finally got a crochet hook and yarn. I couldn't find the ones back home, and forgot to buy one at Walmart. Here, you have to go to 2 shops, and ask for the hidden bigger ones. The yarn is super tiny too. Good thing I'm making baby hats and baby blankets. I was sooooooo happy to have a hook again. Then we wandered through a park with a crocodile fountain. We found a cool store with ice cube trays designed to make long skinny cubes to put in water bottles. How brilliant is that? Why haven't I seen these before? We shopped until 12:30pm.
Costa Rica is different in so many ways. We walked in to the big hardware store and the first thing that catches my eye is a huge stand of 50 machetes of different lengths. That's the gardening tool of choice here. Crazy.
Then we get home and I help Ron do improvements all afternoon, I did the support stuff, that man was the work horse. Whew. My Mom also bought us a new office chair as an anniversary gift. Which Ron put together, and then we finally called it a day. Dinner of BLT's, and watching Survivor number 33. I am totally ready for bed now!
